Thirst in Finland

2019 (December). The most recent language version of the TDS-HF is from Finland, one of the countries participating in the International Thirst Project.

New language versions of TDS-HF and proceeding International Thirst Project

2019 (November). The International Project Thirst in Patients with Heart Failure is proceeding. We now have the TDS-HF in 15 different languages and English version, and 5 more language translations are ongoing. Several countries are preparing for the project to be started or already including patients.

The most recent language versions of the TDS-HF are from India, Poland, Indonesia and Iran. 

Thirst on Iceland

2019 (June). Iceland is participating in the International project about thirst in patients with heart failure, led by dr. Brynja Ingadottir. The study has been generously supported by the Landspitali University Hospital Research Fund and the Icelandic Nurses' Association Research Fund.

New Article

2019 (June). A new article entitled “Thirst in heart failure patients in Sweden, the Netherlands and Japan” has been accepted for publication in the Journal of Cardiovascular Nursing. The aim of the study was to describe factors related to thirst, self-reported reasons for thirst and interventions to relieve thirst in 3 different countries.

Thirst in the EuroHeartCare

2019 (May). Two posters will be presented this year in the EuroHeartCare congress in Milano, Italy. The first study is titled “Thirst frequency in patients with heart failure in a Spanish cohort”. The purpose is to describe how often and for how long patients with heart failure experience thirst and to identify factors related with frequent thirst. The second study to be presented is titled “Thirst distress, thirst intensity and heart failure symptoms”. The aim is to describe the association between thirst distress with thirst intensity and with heart failure symptoms in patients with chronic heart failure.
